As a founder in marketing, I’ll be honest, there have been moments where I’ve struggled to keep up. I’ve asked myself the same question more than once: am I going to become obsolete? Because the truth is, I love learning new tools. I enjoy being in it. But at the pace everything is evolving, it feels impossible to stay up to speed with every platform, every update, every new “must-use” technology. And somewhere in that pressure, I had to come back to what I’ve always believed: build the strategy first, then find the tools to support the system, not the other way around.
As a millennial, I’m actually grateful I experienced a world without this level of technology. I remember having to read multiple books just to form a single conclusion for a research project. There was depth. There was process. There was intention. And now, in the middle of all this AI conversation, I keep coming back to one thing: the human differentiator. Because what we’re seeing right now is a shift. Speed is no longer the competitive edge. Visibility doesn’t convert just because you post more. Audiences are more skeptical—and more emotionally aware than ever before. People are paying attention in a different way.
If I’m being real, even the fact that the news itself is questionable right now tells me everything I need to know. In the next 5–10 years, we won’t just need to show up, we’ll need to show up as humans. Not as polished extensions of a machine. Not as perfectly packaged versions of ourselves. But as real people with perspective, experience, and something to actually say.
At Me&Co., we’ve been asking ourselves what it looks like to support founders in this new era. How do we stay authentic without falling behind? How do we evolve without losing ourselves in the process? And where we’ve landed is simple: we use AI, we use tech, but we still create. We don’t remove ourselves from the process. Because yes, could we automate more? Of course. Would it be faster? Probably. But then I have to ask, what are we without being able to create? At some point, we risk becoming puppets of our own systems. Trend-based. Over-polished. Forgettable. And that’s the last thing we want. We actually design over here. We actually write over here.
What I’ve noticed, and maybe you have too—is that modern content is evolving so quickly, it’s forcing all of us to subconsciously filter what feels real and what doesn’t. You can feel when something is off. You can feel when something is generic. You can feel when something was made to fill space instead of say something. And that’s because at the end of the day, people don’t do business with content, they do business with people. Trust, credibility, connection—that’s still the foundation.
Over the last two years, I’ll admit we’ve had moments where we felt behind on tech. Real wtf moments. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard, “Mel, I can just use ChatGPT for that. It can write my content. It can design my graphics. It can build my marketing plan.” And at first, it was gut-wrenching. But what I’m starting to see now is a shift. People are getting fatigued. Because AI-generated content is impressive at first, but it doesn’t always connect, and connection is what actually moves people.
After attending the State of Latino Entrepreneurship and sitting in on conversations around AI, I felt something I hadn’t felt in a while—validation. That the way we’re approaching this isn’t outdated, it’s intentional. Human first. Technology second.
Let me be clear—I’m not anti-AI. We use it. It helps us organize ideas, speed up execution, identify patterns, and visualize direction. It’s a partner. But hear me when I say this: it will never replace connection, it will never replace emotion, and it will never replace lived experience.
We are entering a new creative era, and the founders who will stand out are the ones willing to write authentically, share real stories, speak to real problems, and show their perspective, even when it’s not perfect. You don’t need a full production team. You have an iPhone, you have a voice, and you have experiences no one else can replicate. Use them.
At Me&Co., we’re not creating more just to create more. We’re creating to connect, to share what’s real, and to solve actual problems. Because clarity makes people understand you, but story is what makes them stay.
